Brian is the Red Hills Outreach & Education Coordinator at Tall Timbers, a research station and land conservancy in Tallahassee, Florida. He gets to work on all sorts of fun projects like hosting the Red Hills Fire Festival, establishing (and burning) schoolyard longleaf pine restoration plots, and developing local ecology lesson plans for high school teachers. His eclectic 20+ year career has generally centered around people and land.
As a Biologist for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, he planned habitat restoration projects with private landowners in Illinois and California. As an Arborist in Utah, he helped local governments and neighborhoods improve their urban forests. As a Planner in Florida, he promoted smart growth and urban design for more livable communities. Brian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Environment Studies from Cornell College in Iowa and a Master’s of Public Administration from Southern Illinois University.
