Cedarbrook is a 22-unit community nestled in the rich landscape of Laurel Park, NC. We are a close-knit neighborhood working together as a community on fire mitigation projects in order to reduce our wildfire risk in the urban wildfire interface. Our efforts are guided by the North Carolina Forestry Service (Justin Query, NCFS Fire Mitigation Forester), Mountain Valleys Resource Conservation & Development, Valley Hill Fire & Rescue, and the Town of Laurel Park. We are one of two Firewise communities in Henderson County NC.

Implementation of Fire Mitigation Plan of Action - I

Cedarbrook has been selected to participate in the NC Forestry Service Fuels Chipping Program. The intent of the Fuels Chipping Program is to reduce the wildfire risk by providing a road-side chipping service. This is a free service to communities / homeowners within North Carolina. This program is funded by the North Carolina Community Fire Mitigation Grant. This project will be carried out within the perimeter of our 8-acre community. We will be trimming and collecting brush around individual homes as well as accumulated forest debris.

Implementation of Fire Mitigation Plan of Action - II

Cedarbrook HOA's 2020 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day project is aimed at increasing the defensible space surrounding our entire 8-acre neighborhood. We will be trimming and collecting brush and forest debris for removal along our community's perimeter, especially in areas where power lines are vulnerable to high wind damage and winter storms.
