Charlie is currently the La Plata County Chapter Coordinator for Wildfire Adapted Partnership. He manages the Neighborhood Ambassador program to ensure that sparkplugs within neighborhoods around La Plata County have the resources they need to either start or continue preparing for wildfire. Neighborhood Ambassadors allow FireWise to take a community based approach to wildfire mitigation through creating community wide mitigation plans and then encouraging work days or offering financial incentives to complete mitigation work on both community and private property.
Charlie graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs with a B.A. in Environmental Policy. He originally became interested in wildfire issues after hearing about the effects of the Waldo Canyon Fire on the Colorado Springs Community. After this fire, he devoted the majority of his remaining time at Colorado College to exploring the most effective approaches from around the world to reduce loss of life and property at which point he realized the importance of mitigation on both an individual and community wide level.
