I have been extremely active in advocating for communities to become Fire Adapted within Evergreen for the past year. I led the effort to make my neighborhood a Firewise community, and achieved Firewise Certification within 6 months of initiating the project. I’m on the Leadership Team for the Evergreen Community Wildfire Protection and Implementation Plans and help other neighborhood groups get their plans activated. I am the champion of the Rotary Wildfire Readiness Project which focuses on Community Safety and Community Education as it relates to Wildfire Readiness and have involved multiple front range Rotary Clubs in this effort. I have worked closely with Evergreen Fire Rescue on a numbers of projects, including the design of their wildfire resources website, marketing and execution of their new Home Defensible Assessment tool and assisting with developing public education videos. I’m a member of the Jefferson County Wildfire Risk Reduction Task Force. I am involved in multiple educational programs for our community, including presentations to large groups and organization of wildfire education events.
May 2nd Community Wildfire Preparedness Day

Event will run from 9:30-1pm in Evergreen, and will include Leaders from Community Wildfire Protection & Implementation Plans to share information to help activate neighborhood groups to take steps to become more fire adapted. Will also be doing presentations and providing materials on home hardening, defensible space and evacuation preparedness.
Collaborators for this event will include Colorado State Forestry, Evergreen Fire Rescue, Evergreen Rotary and local vendor resources .
Rotary Wildfire Readiness Education Fire Truck
Our objective is to convert a fire truck into a rolling educational lab to help build awareness of wildfire preparedness and help provide important educational information to help residents prepare for living with wildfire. Educational will include interactive displays and handouts on subjects like creating defensible space, home hardening, fire resistant landscaping and emergency preparedness with "Ready, Set, Go" materials. The truck will also be equipped with large LED Screens mounted on the sides to provide additional education and information. The truck also has a trailer with 4 pop up tents and tables so that live 1:1 education can be done at community events.
15th Annual Foothills Home & Garden Show
Evergreen & Conifer Rotary Clubs hosts the event on April 4 & 5, 2020. This event has a typical audience of 3500 visitors over the weekend, and this year Rotary is putting special emphasis on wildfire preparedness education. Rotary is making booths available for non-profits who will be providing important wildfire education and materials on subjects like creating defensible space, home hardening, fire resistant landscaping and emergency preparedness. Rotary will also be contacting wildfire preparedness vendors to the show to provide resources to the public.
