Kara is the Fire, Landscapes, and Communities Coordinator at the Washington Resource Conservation & Development Council and works on various fire-related projects and programs across the state. She supports the Washington State Fire Adapted Communities Learning Network and is the coordinator for the Washington Prescribed Fire Council.
Washington Prescribed Fire Council
The Council is the nexus for moving forward and promoting prescribed fire as a forest restoration and land management tool. Some of the Council's work over the past few years has focused on:
-- Increasing prescribed fire training opportunities, including through the TREX model. The Cascadia TREX in the fall of 2017 was the first TREX in Washington.
-- Promoting prescribed fire and smoke outreach and local community engagement.
-- Increasing opportunities for prescribed burns on private lands.
-- Working with local, state, federal, and tribal partners on collaborative, cross-boundary projects.
