Keith Mitchell currently serves as the Assistant Fire Management Officer, for the Alaska Western Area Fire Management Program, based in Denali National Park and Preserve.
Responsibilities include the supervision of wildland fire activities occurring in six national park units, covering over 21 million acres (Denali National Park and Preserve, Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Kobuk Valley National Park, Noatak National Preserve, Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, Cape Krusenstern National Monument.) This includes communicating strategic objectives with cooperating agencies, on multi-jurisdictional wildland fires to address risk to human safety and infrastructure.
