I am the Wildfire Preparedness Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management in Missoula County. I work with a variety of stakeholders, including the Lolo National Forest, Missoula DNRC office, Rural and Urban Fire Districts, private landowners, non-profit groups and many more. My job entails the facilitation of the CWPP and the National Cohesive Strategy to create a fire adapted and resilient ecosystem and community in Missoula County.

Specifically interested in learning about increasing mitigation capacity for rural fire departments, reducing costs of thinning and managing biomass removal.

Designing a Community Forum or Learning Fair

I am designing a community forum in a rural town in western Montana, population of about 1,600 people. The forum/fair is May 5th, wildfire preparedness day. The goal of the project is to educate the community about fuel mitigation tactics and how this work can go a long way towards protecting property, safety of firefighters, increase landscape resiliency to intense wildfires, and save money for landowners. I would like to incorporate as many different groups as possible.
