We are a Fire District that covers an area approximately 250 square miles with a large majority of that being within the Wildland Urban Interface. We have implemented various programs to educate the public what they can do to help them to increase the defensible space around their homes and on their property. Collaboratively with other agencies; such as law enforcement, county emergency management, Forest Service and other such entities, we have utilized the Ready, Set, Go program to educate and inform residents in our area.
We are always looking for other opportunities and means to further promote the message to create a healthy forest and how to safely live within the Wildland Urban Interface.
Like many other agencies we are faced with the challenge of how to assist the general public that it is their responsibility to maintain their property in a healthy state and what steps are necessary to achieve that goal.
